Coach Rachel Derrick Jones, a distinguished two-sport athlete, was inducted into the Father Ryan High School Hall of Fame Class of 2023 for her outstanding achievements in both basketball and volleyball. During her time at Father Ryan High School in Nashville, Tennessee, Jones led both the basketball and volleyball teams to back-to-back state runner-up finishes, earning All-State, All-Region, and All-District honors in the process.
Jones continued her athletic journey at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee, where she was a dual-sport standout. On the basketball court, she led the team in assists for three consecutive years and earned Academic All-Conference honors each of those years. In volleyball, she was named Team MVP in 2003 and selected to the All Mid-South Conference First Team, further cementing her legacy as a top-tier collegiate athlete.
After graduating, Jones transitioned seamlessly into coaching, dedicating the last 15 years to mentoring young athletes and giving back to the sports and communities that shaped her. She has coached boys’ and girls’ basketball at both the middle and high school levels across the Nashville Metro area, including at Harpeth Hall School, University School of Nashville, and St. Matthew Catholic School.
